The symposium focuses on the theme of "Metabolic Stress and Health", attracting nearly 200 participants from well-known universities and research institutes at home and abroad to participate in the grand event. Sheng-cai Lin, an academician of the CAS Member, served as the chairman of the symposium.

The Xiamen Winter Symposium is an annual international academic event carefully crafted by the School of Life Sciences. Its predecessor was the "China Singapore Biology Symposium" advocated by Xiamen University, the National University of Singapore, and Tsinghua University, and eventually developed into multiple universities at home and abroad. In November 2009, it was officially renamed as the "Xiamen Winter Symposium". Each symposium focuses on cutting-edge research in the field of life sciences and revolves around different themes. It has been successfully held for twelve sessions and has become a brand academic conference of Xiamen University, receiving high praise from all walks of life.
