From November 14th to 16th, the 26th National Life Sciences Deans’ Forum was held at Xiamen University, with over 110 participants, including deans and representatives from life sciences schools across more than 70 universities, along with experts from research institutions and academic journals. The forum focused on the theme “Life Sciences in the New Era: Exploration of Science-Education and Industry-Education Collaboration”, providing a platform for discussion and cooperation for the future.
Opening remarks were given by Jiahuai Han, Dean of the XMU Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences.
Dean Deng Xianming of the XMU School of Life Sciences presented a work report detailing the school's history, current institutional setup, and the School’s achievements in talent cultivation and research innovations.
Leading members in the field of life sciences from Peking University, Jilin University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and Technology of China, Lanzhou University, Nankai University, and Zhejiang University, along with senior editors from Higher Education Press, delivered keynote speeches. They engaged in profound discussions on deepening discipline construction and advancing the connotative development of higher education.
Participants and experts from China Agricultural University, Sun Yat-sen University, Henan University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Quemoy University, Chang Gung University, and Yang Ming Chiao Tung University focused their discussions on the construction and development of biological disciplines across the Taiwan Strait, aiming to promote deeper exchanges and cooperation in higher education between mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Senior editors from the Chinese Journal of Cell Biology, Wiley Publishing Group, and Journal of Xiamen University (Natural Science) also deliver keynote speeches, exploring the synergistic relationship between journal development and discipline construction.
As a brand academic event in higher education in the field of life sciences, the National Life Sciences Deans’ Forum is a crucial platform for advancing the development of life sciences in China. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Xiamen University's School of Life Sciences, hosting this forum carried significant meaning.
The 27th Forum will be hosted by the School of Life Sciences, Peking University.
