Research Area

The gastrointestinal tract harbors a highly complex microbial community, including bacteria, fungus, virus, etc., which is referred to as intestinal microbiota. The entire genome sequence of a microbial community is referred to as the microbiome. With increasing evidence suggesting that the imbalance of gut microbiota plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of multiple diseases, interactions between host immune system and gut microbiota are now attracting emerging interest. Our lab investigates the function of gut microbiota in multiple diseases, such as radiation-induced damage, colitis, viral infection and cancer, etc.. Meanwhile, we will work on developing new diagnostic methods and treatments based on microbiota and related metabolites.
