Lecture Abstract: Using the state of the art integration of CRISPR and metabolic flux analysis (MFA), Dr. Lei Jiang and his colleagues discovered a novel metabolic pathway controls redox homeostasis in anchorage-independent malignant cells. This pathway allows NADPH to be shuttled from the pentose phosphate pathway into the mitochondria. Blocking this novel pathway impairs spheroid growth through uncontrolled oxidative stress.
