Celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC)
On September 28th-29th, Xiamen University Faculty Chorus Competition was held in celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China. As one of the 37 participating choirs, the choir of School of Life Sciences ranked 7th in the competition and won the second prize.
On September 30th, under the proposal of Professor Wu Qiao, the faculty at the School of Life Sciences carried out a flashing event with everyone holding the national flag and singing the song “Me and My Motherland” to express our deepest love toward our motherland.
At 7:30 am on October 1st, a flag-raising ceremony was held in Xiang’an Campus. All the leadership members of School of Life Sciences and student representatives attended this solemn ceremony.
At 9:00 am on Oct 1st, about 400 teachers and students of School of Life Sciences gathered to watch the live broadcast of the military parades held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the PRC founding.
After the live broadcast, the School organized a symposium attended by young teachers and students. Participants shared their feelings enthusiastically about the military parades. Mingzhi Zhang, Secretary of CPC Committee of School of Life Sciences said that he has experienced and witnessed tremendous changes after the founding of New China and the military parades impacted him and once again made him feel the rapid development of our motherland. He also raised ardent expectations for the students and hope they will strive for the great rejuvenation of China.
The School of Life Sciences has also launched a series of other activities online and offline in order to celebrate the glorious course and great achievements of New China in the past 70 years.
