主要研究领域(Research Area)
    人类近乎每时每刻都在受到病原体（如细菌、真菌、病毒及寄生虫）的威胁。每一个个体生命的延续过程都伴随着一系列组织病变（如癌细胞的产生等），其后果可能是病魔的折磨及生命的终止。生物体内存在着抵御外界感染，清除内部病变的机构——免疫系统。免疫的功能可分为先天性免疫和获得性免疫，我们的研究重点是在先天性免疫系统中细胞内信号的传导。我们的工作导致了p38信号通路的发现，并证明了此信号转导通路在抵御外界感染及清除内源癌变中的重要作用。我们将继续综合运用生物化学、细胞生物学及遗传突变等技术去探寻先天性免疫的内在机理。根据课题需求，我们以果蝇、小鼠及哺乳细胞等模型开展研究。我们的研究结果将会对治疗人类顽疾提供一些新的思路和途径。

    Humans are under near constant attacks from bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites. A person’s health is also affected by pathological changes during the course of his/her life. To maintain a healthy condition, the immune system has to not only protect the body from foreign pathogens but also recognize and eliminate the sick cells or tissues of its own.  Immuno-responses can be classified as innate and adaptive immunities. Our research focuses on defining the intracellular signaling pathways in the innate immune system.  Our research has revealed the p38 signal transduction pathway and demonstrated an important role of this pathway in promoting inflammation and in preventing tumorigenesis.  We apply approaches of biochemistry, cell biology, forward and reverse genetics to address the mechanisms of innate immuno-responses.  We are currenty useing Drosophila melanogaster, mouse, and cultured mammalian cells as model systems to study questions in immunity.  We believe our research will bring out new information and ideas for therapeutic intervention of many human diseases.

主要学术成就

　　韩家淮教授在世界上率先发现p38信号通路。细胞内存在多条信号通路以介导不同的生物学反应。p38信号通路是细胞内最重要的信号通路之一，它在许多生物学反应包括细胞周期调控、细胞增殖、发育、分化、衰老、凋亡、免疫反应及肿瘤发生中起重要作用。估计世界上约有两千余家实验室涉足p38信号通路的研究，韩家淮教授领导的实验室在该领域一直保持世界领先地位。
　　截止至2007年5月,已在世界主流学术刊物上发表论文160余篇，其中8篇发表在Cell、Nature、Science上（五篇为通讯作者），10篇发表在Cell和Nature的姊妹杂志上（六篇为通讯作者）,并获美国专利多项;论文被他人引用15000余次，单篇最高引用率1700余次。
