    厦门大学生命科学学院由生物学系、生物化学与生物技术系、生物医学科学系、农业生物技术系、国家传染病诊断试剂与疫苗工程技术研究中心、细胞生物学与肿瘤细胞工程教育部重点实验室、亚热带湿地生态系统研究教育部重点实验室等单位组成。学院的前身为生物学系，创建于1922年，迄今已造就了一批在国内外享有盛誉的著名学者．
学院现有教职工164人，专任教师108人，其中，中国科学院院士1人，长江学者奖励计划特聘教授4人、讲座教授1人，闽江学者6人、讲座教授5人，国家杰出青年基金获得者4人，教育部新（跨）世纪优秀人才7人，博士生导师50多人，具有博士学位的教师86人。学院每年招收本科生150人，硕士研究生近200人，博士研究生50人左右。
学院拥有近2万平方米的教学科研用房和9000多万元的现代生物学实验仪器设备，形成了生物医学科学、分子细胞生物学、寄生动物生物学、红树林湿地生态学、硅藻等水生生物学、农业生物技术等富有特色的研究方向。近三年全院承担国家"973"项目、"863"项目、国家自然科学基金项目、国家科技攻关项目、省部级课题共计200多项，到位科研经费近1.2亿元。近三年发表SCI论文约300篇，其中包括发表在Nature Immunology，Demelopmental Cell，Genes & Development，EMBO J等国际一流刊物上的多篇论文；获得授权专利近30项；出版教材和专著近20部。
学院致力于与国内外高校和科研机构建立广泛的交流合作关系，已与美国、加拿大、德国、荷兰、匈牙利、日本和新加坡等国的科研机构建立合作关系。此外，学院还与国内外企业进行合作，共同开发生物高科技产品，实现科技产业化。

Brief Introduction of School of Life Sciences  

    School of Life Sciences, Xiamen University consists four departments (Biology, Biochemistry & Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences and Agricultural Biotechnology), National Institute of Diagnostics and Vaccine Development in infectious Diseases, Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education for Cell Biology and Tumor Cell Engineering., Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education for Subtropical Wetland Ecosystem Research, etc. It was founded in November 1999 as an expansion of the original Department of Biology, which dated back to 1922. The school is well known for its achievements in both teaching and scientific research with many distinguished scholars who graduated from or used to work in the department..

    At present, there are 146 faculty and staff members, about 600 undergraduate students and about 750 graduate students. Studies in Biomedical Sciences, Parasitological Zoology, Mangrove ecology and Agricultural Biotechnology are characteristic research fields of the school. At the same time, the school has been establishing extensive research collaborations at home and abroad, including those with institutes in USA, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Hungary, Japan, Singapore and many other countries.
