    The Microseed Matrix Screening (MMS) method was introduced in 2004. D'Arcy et al. automated the method in 2007 using the Oryx range of robots, adapting it to pre-mixed commercial solution screens. Conventional seeding methods use solutions made up especially for individual experiments, and are much more labour-intensive.  The theory and practice of the MMS method will be described with case studies.  Other topics covered will include the use of additive screens, including the Hamilton Silver Bullet (tm) screen , grid screens, and the scaling up of crystallization experiments from nano-drops to micro-drops.
